AANS International Lifetime Recognition Award

This award recognizes the recipient’s lifetime of contributions to neurosurgery in his or her native country, and to neurosurgery globally.

The 2010 recipient is  Jose G. MARTIN-RODRIGUEZ , MD from Madrid, Spain, who was honored at the AANS International Reception during the AANS Annual Meeting.  Dr. Martin-Rodriguez has been involved in many international neurosurgical organizations and journals. He is most recognized for his decades of service to the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS) and his humanitarian efforts to advance neurosurgical education in developing countries. Best International Abstract Award:
This award is given to the Awarded to the highest graded international abstract paper submitted to the AANS Annual Meeting by an international author. The recipient is awarded $500 and a framed certificate.

The 2010 recipient is Pedro Lylyk, MD, from Buenos Aires Argentina, for his abstract titled Endovascular Treatment of Ruptured Intracranial Anuerysm with PipelineTM Flow-Diverter Stent: Pros and Cons.

International Travel Scholarship
The scholarship provides $1500 to support the attendance of a neurosurgeon from a developing country to the AANS Annual Meeting. The 2010 recipient is Mohsen Marzbanfor, MD, for his abstract titled Intravenous Injection of Human Umbilical Cord Matrix Stem Cell (Wharton jelly stem cell) Provides Functional Recovery In a Rat Model of Traumatic Brain Injury.
